Wycombe Local Strategic Partnership – 11th October Meeting

The formal minutes, agendas and attendees can be found on the Wycombe District Council website http://www.wycombe.gov.uk/council-services/community-and-living/sustainable-communities-strategy/wycombe-partnership.aspx.  Following are the points of note I made from a VCS & rural perspective.

Better Health Survey

Following a number of events around the county a consultation exercise will close on Friday.  There will be further opportunities to include your views and these will be included as links from the Community Impact Bucks website, www.communityimpactbucks.org.uk, when they are announced.

Putting the ‘Local’ into Localism

This partnership conference is scheduled for 13th March 2012 from 9.30-12.30.  This will be a showcase opportunity for sub groups of the partnership as well as discussion groups.

New Partnership Sub Group

A Big Society Partnership group is to be set up as a subgroup of the partnership.  We will ensure more details are on www.communityimpactbucks.org.uk as they become available.

Community Infrastructure Levy

Wycombe District Council have been working on what this will look like for their district.  A consultation is to start on 8th November until December on their initial thoughts. The paper submitted to the Partnership can be seen on the council’s web site but discussions included a possible 30% to town and parish councils and a rate of levy of between £100 & £200 per sq metre for residential developments.  Affordable housing and that developed by charities likely to be exempt.  The consultation will have more detail of the options.

Self Determined Support

A presentation on progress towards all Social Care recipients having individual budgets was given.  An interesting fact for Social Care providers in the VCS sector was the maximum level of hourly rate that is budgeted at £13.45.  People commissioning services at a rate higher than this have to subsidise the cost from other means.  All plans are risk assessed for the individual to ensure they meet needs and are sustainable.

Digital Switchover of the Crystal Palace Transmitter

Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East have small grants available to groups and organisations who are able to raise awareness of their clients about the switchover in the south of Buckinghamshire.  The switchover is scheduled for the beginning of April 2012. Their contact details are:- rosa@ageconcernsabe.org.uk. 01753 497876

The next meeting of the partnership is on 13th December please let have any comments or matters you would like raised at cora@communityimpactbucksorg.uk
